Sage Love is an award-winning filmmaker, entrepreneur, cinematographer, and photographer from Brooklyn, New York whose work centers on powerful visual storytelling that inspires learning, empathy, and social impact. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he studied Film Producing and Directing, Love distinguished himself early in his career as the first recipient of an award from the Russell J. Efros Foundation and a recipient of the SVA Alumni Society Award, honors recognizing emerging creative excellence and leadership in filmmaking.
Love’s early breakthrough came with the release of Ayiti: The Awakening, a short documentary exploring the Haitian Revolution while reflecting on Haiti’s resilience following the devastating 2010 earthquake. The film received critical acclaim on the film festival circuit and earned multiple awards, establishing Love as a rising voice in independent cinema.
Since then, his work has screened at film festivals across the United States and internationally, reaching audiences around the world through video-on-demand platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, Apple TV, Discovered, KweliTV, and ShortsTV.
In addition to his work in independent film, Love has built a respected career as a cinematographer and visual storyteller in commercial and branded media. His work has earned two Telly Awards for Best Cinematography and Video Editing. He has produced visual campaigns and marketing content for organizations and companies including Nationwide Mutual Insurance, Phillips Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, Ocala Community Foundation, Ocala Breeders’ Sale, AdventHealth, McKenzie’s Moment, the Boys & Girls Club, the YMCA, and the Harrison Museum of African American Culture. Love also served on the production team for the CBS Morning Show, working alongside Gayle King, Nate Burleson, Tony Dokoupil, and Vladimir Duthiers.
Love currently serves as Head of Productions and Executive Producer for Diaspora Whispers Studios, where he oversees film development and production. Through the studio, he co-produced and served as Director of Photography for the multi award-winning film series African Diasporans Hidden Kulture. The first film in the series screened at the Cannes Film Market and went on to win Best Documentary Feature at The African Film Festival in Dallas, Texas, and Best Foreign Documentary Feature at the Inside Nollywood International Film Festival and Awards in Abuja, Nigeria. The international success of the project helped establish Love as a producer whose work bridges global audiences and independent cinema.
Beyond filmmaking, Love serves as Executive Producer for Diaspora Whispers Books, where he helps guide the development of the Amara’s Adventures children’s book series, creating stories that encourage curiosity, imagination, and literacy among young readers.
He also serves as Chairman of Diaspora Whispers Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing literacy, creativity, and educational engagement through storytelling and the arts. Through the organization, Love helps lead national initiatives such as the “It’s Cool To Learn” Literacy Month program, which promotes reading and educational empowerment for youth across communities. Through his work across film, publishing, and nonprofit leadership, Sage Love continues to expand the reach of storytelling, creating films and creative initiatives that educate, inspire, and drive purposeful social impact in communities around the world.
