Honoring Women's Month With Stories That Inspire

Welcome, Diaspora Whispers Community. We are glad you’re here.

Women's Month is a time to honor creativity, courage, and the women who dare to imagine new worlds and what better way to celebrate than by uplifting stories that inspire the next generation of young readers and thinkers?

This Women's Month, we proudly celebrate trailblazing author and filmmaker Nola D. Oracle and her beloved character Amara, a curious and ambitious young girl who invites children on joyful learning adventures.

Through film and storytelling, Nola continues to show that it's cool to learn and that curiosity is powerful.

From Documentary to Children's Series: Nola's Story

Nola was inspired to create Amara after her award-winning documentary, African Diasporans Hidden Kulture Part I: Jacksonville, Florida.

While working on the film, she felt a strong calling to bring history, learning, and discovery to younger audiences in a way that felt fun, accessible, and engaging.

That inspiration blossomed into Amara's Adventures, a children's series designed to spark imagination while encouraging early literacy, reading comprehension, and a love for learning.

Meet Amara

Amara is a bright, ambitious, and special young girl who loves to explore the world around her. Whether she's discovering history, science, or nature, Amara reminds young readers that asking questions and being curious is something to celebrate.

She doesn't just go on adventures, she invites children to come along with her.

Two Powerful New Projects This Women's Month

This Women's Month, we are excited to share two powerful projects that reflect our mission of wonder, education, and care for our planet:

🎬 The Secret Pollinators β€” This film highlights the importance of butterflies and the vital role they play in our ecosystem, told through a lens of wonder, education, and care for the planet.

πŸ“– Amara and the Secret World of Butterflies β€” New Children's Book. Our new children's book introduces young readers to the magical world of butterflies while nurturing curiosity, environmental awareness, and a love of reading.

Nola's work is rooted in the belief that parents and caregivers play a crucial role in valuing early literacy and that stories can be a bridge between education, history, and joy.
